The Content Navigator explores the possibilities of AR using physical space and storytelling to create an immersive experience for Yle, the Finnish Broadcasting Company.

CHALLENGE

Yle, the Finnish Broadcasting Company, wanted to explore AR’s storytelling potential with a horror-themed experience. 

APPROACH

Futurice and Yle designed an immersive experience that exploits the strength of augmented reality, while taking its restrictions into account. A story was crafted around the idea of ‘AI gone wrong’. Users position TV screens around themselves and receive recommendations from Yle’s content through a playful psychological test. 

IMPACT

The result was an engaging experience that scared people, but made them want to go through the whole thing again. It also shed light on interesting future possibilities and potential pitfalls that will inspire and guide Yle as they explore new storytelling possibilities.
